    I'm going with my husband + daughters (aged 3, 7 and 10) to WDW for Christmas, but need an easy way to find the right hotel. Priorities: fits family of 5, fun for kids AND adults, dining options. What else should I consider? What hotels would be best?

    Christmas at Disney World adds a layer of magic on top of the magic! If you're looking for a hotel that sleeps 5 in a room, you have lots of options. To narrow down all of the choices, here are a few additional things to consider:

    • I'm assuming that you'll be relying solely on Disney transportation because you're from Connecticut and most likely flying and won't have your own car. Christmas is the busiest season of the year and that means that Disney transportation will be taxed. Look at the resorts that will allow you to either walk to the parks or use the monorail instead of waiting on buses. Take a close look at the Magic Kingdom resorts (Grand Floridian, Contemporary, or Polynesian) or Epcot resorts (Boardwalk, Beach Club or Yacht Club).
    • Holiday crowds can cause the parks to shut down due to capacity. Proximity to the parks is important so that you can get in early, especially at the Magic Kingdom.
    • Each resort offers special touches for the holidays, but my favorites are the Gingerbread House at the Grand Floridian, the village at Boardwalk, and the Gingerbread Christmas Tree at the Contemporary.

    These last three, the Grand Floridian, Boardwalk and the Contemporary would be the finalists in my book as they fit the bill for everything on your wish list and my extra considerations. If your budget could handle it, I'd splurge for the Grand Floridian, but if more kid-friendly dining options are what you'd like nearby, the Contemporary with its Contempo Cafe and Chef Mickey's comes out on top.
