Hi there! I'm hoping to reduce my plastics, and was wondering if we can bring back our refillable mugs purchased within the last 2 years and have them reactivated for an upcoming trip? Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to planDisney, Victoria!

I’m incredibly happy to hear from you today, and I hope that you’re looking forward to your upcoming trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth! Be sure to watch the Disney Parks Blog as you approach your trip to stay up-to-date on the most recent Disney World updates.

Victoria! We are kindred spirits! Every year I try to set a goal that helps me live a little more sustainably. This year I’ve been learning about consolidating my micro plastics into a larger container as tightly as I can pack it before throwing it away — this helps with the decomposition process and helps protect the earth. While I am far from a master of this skill, it’s been fun to learn more ways to say “I love you” to our home planet.

I am SO wishing that Disney will update the RFID chips in the Disney Resort refillable mugs to be able to be reactivated, as I would love to continue to reuse my mugs from past trips. At this time, though, these mugs are not able to be reactivated. You are more than welcome to bring your mug and use it as a refillable water bottle at the parks though! There are many water fountains around the theme parks… and if you ask a Cast Member where the best Water Bottle Refill Stations are, they will be happy to tell you!

I hope that we see this update in the near future, Victoria; but, until then, keep being your amazing self by reducing your plastic waste when you can!

Have a great, big, beautiful tomorrow!

Hello! I am Allyn, your personal planDisney companion! I’ve enjoyed most of my life in the heart of Wyoming but am currently living my fairy tale as a wife, mom, yoga instructor, and fine jewelry designer in central Florida! When I’m not galavanting around the Disney theme parks, you’ll probably find me reading a good book, outside playing with my family, or learning to do something new. I truly believe that dreams come true, and I look forward to sharing that magic with you!
