Bonjour Sabrena!
Welcome to planDisney, and thank you so much for sending us your question! I always get so excited whenever I get to answer a question from a fellow Canadian, and I am honoured to be a part of your planning journey. You will also be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort at the perfect time. With the month of May's beautiful weather, the
World's Most Magical Celebration in full swing and the
EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival's 2022 season, I am sure that you'll have the most magical experience on your next Disney vacation!
As I have travelled to the Walt Disney World Resort several times in the past year, I completely understand the struggle of getting tested in time for your return to Canada. Unfortunately, Disney does not currently offer COVID testing on their property. However, do not worry, as many different options are available to you. As you know, there are several drive-through testing sites in the area, including well-known pharmacies such as CVS. Since you mentioned that you will not have a vehicle, an option that would be available to you is at-home testing services. Indeed, I have gotten tested directly from my Resort Hotel room by using an at-home testing service. The main downside is that although this service can solve transportation issues, you are often required to give the nurse a broader timeframe, which might take away from your time at the theme parks. The best option, in my opinion, would be to look into testing sites available at the Orlando International Airport. I also used that option on my first trip back to the Walt Disney World Resort since the pandemic and received my PCR test results within half an hour. Furthermore, since the government of Canada now accepts Antigen tests, getting tested at the airport might be a more affordable and convenient option than it was when PCR tests were required. As always, make sure to keep an eye on any COVID-related news as these regulations can change very quickly.
Now that we have handled the COVID tests, Sabrena, let's talk about all the new and returning offerings that will be available during your trip. You have picked a very special time to visit with Walt Disney World Resort's 50th-anniversary, and it would not be a Disney celebration without unique offerings! At Magic Kingdom Park, make sure to stop by Cinderella Castle to watch Mickey and his friends in
Mickey's Magical Friendship Faire. In addition, you will not want to miss the return of the
Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade, which just came down Main Street USA for the first time since the park closure in 2020! Also, make sure to plan time to watch
Disney Enchantment and
Harmonious at Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT, respectively. These shows have become some of my favourites and I cannot recommend them enough!
I hope this was helpful, Sabrena, and that you will have the best day ever on your upcoming Disney vacation. If you have any other questions about your trip or travelling during these unprecedented times, please don't hesitate to reach out. We always love to help a fellow Canadian and as Duke Caboom would say: yes, we Can-ada!
Have a magical day,
Ariane
