I'm heading for Oogie Boogie Bash in October and I'm wondering if I can wear my Captain America Cosplay. My only concerns are the metal star on my chest, and the suit had a couple of layers to it. Would it be ok to wear without breaking the rules?

Hi there, Grayson. Thanks for stopping by! I love Oogie Boogie Bash, and when it comes to your question, "I'm with you 'til the end of the line."

This specially ticketed event allows you entrance to Disney California Adventure Park on the day of the party three hours before the party begins. Once the party starts, you can enjoy Treat Trails, exclusive character interactions, and Halloween entertainment, including the Frightfully Fun Parade. During this event, Guests of all ages are allowed to dress up as their favorite characters. Something not generally allowed for Guests 14 years of age and older at most other times. To make sure that your costume is allowed, there is a "Dressing for Special Events" section on the Disneyland Resort website to provide guidelines for what is and isn't allowed.

Grayson, as you probably read, here are two rules that give me pause based on the description of your costume:

    • Costumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.
    • Layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may be subject to additional security screening.
Ultimately, the final decision on what costumes are allowed is up to the Cast Members at the security screening area. They may require further screening of anything you bring or ask that you return certain items to your car. I have seen it happen before, so I highly recommend you have additional options or the ability to modify your costume if needed. I wish I had a more clear answer for you but without a picture, it's hard to give a definitive answer.

I appreciate your thoughtfulness with your costume, Grayson. Here's hoping your entrance into Oogie Boogie Bash is smooth sailing! Please visit us again if you have any other questions before your visit.

I can do this all day,
    Melissa
