I'm having trouble planning what rides and attractions my 3.5 year old daughter, who is 38" tall would be able to ride and also what attractions would interest her. For example Maelstrom seems neat but would it be scary? Can you list suggestions?

Every three year old is such a different child that recommending attractions can be difficult.  I have two grandsons and one is a real dare devil and the other much more cautious when it comes to Disney rides.

You can check out all the height restrictions for all the Disney park attractions at this site. wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/height.cfm

If an attraction is not listed it means that a child at that height is allowed full access. In other words your child will be able to experience the Tomorrowland Speedway but only as a passenger with you. She would not be allowed in a car alone.

I have found that the cast members will be quite strict with the height rules and please understand it is for the safety of all involved.  And it also can change from attraction to attraction. When my grandson was finally 40" tall he went on Soarin and loved it and then we walked over to Test Track and he couldn't meet the requirements even though that ride said 40" as well.  When they are small they tend to want to droop under the bar instead of standing up straight!

Even when your child reaches the requirement please take a minute and explain the attraction to her to make sure both you and she feel comfortable experiencing it.  It is better to have a happy child for the vacation then one who might become scared of every ride you approach. Maelstrom is a great example.  It is dark and does have large trolls during the ride.  After explaining those things truthfully to her see if she is willing to give it a try.  When they are ready they will have a magical experience!
