Hi Janet,
Welcome to planDisney! I’m so glad you stopped by. planDisney is a group of Guests, just like you, who love helping others make the most of their Disney vacations by sharing our tips and experiences. And let me just say, how exciting that your magical
Walt Disney World Resort adventure is right around the corner! From amazing nighttime spectaculars to enchanting character encounters and delicious eats around every corner, there truly is something for everyone to enjoy.
Since you didn’t mention which mode of transportation you’re using from Orlando International Airport (MCO), I’m going to swing out on one of Tarzan’s limbs and assume you’ll be hopping aboard Mears Connect, which is kind of like the beloved Disney’s Magical Express (R.I.P.), to get you to your
Disney Resorts Collection hotel.
While Mears Connect isn’t an official Disney transportation service, I did some digging and found that they can accommodate Guests traveling with wheelchairs or scooters. If you need to remain in your wheelchair during travel or boarding, you’ll want to indicate that when adding your party during booking. If you don’t need to stay on your scooter while riding, no worries, it can typically be stored in the luggage compartment under the vehicle. Just be sure to include it in your baggage count. Most standard-size scooters and wheelchairs can be accommodated, but to play it safe, I’d recommend giving Mears Connect (or whatever service you’re using) a quick call before your trip to make sure everything is set for a smooth journey.
Once you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort, you’ll be glad to know that all of the
complimentary transportation options, including buses, monorails, and Disney Skyliner, are accessible and can accommodate wheelchairs and
Electronic Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs). So whether you’re gliding through the skies to EPCOT or rolling down Main Street, U.S.A., you’ll be able to enjoy it all without missing a beat.
If you have any other questions or need a little more help planning your magical vacation, just let me know.
I’d be more than happy to help with all things Disney.
See you real soon,
Brent
