I’m having to reschedule my May vacation due to the closures, is July a good time to visit?

    Hi Ariana!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I think that every month has it own merits at Walt Disney World Resort, and it is all down to personal preference.  If you want to avoid the largest crowds, I would avoid the week of 4th July,  however, I think that July is a great time to visit!  Until recently, because of school holidays in the UK, July was always our month to take our annual vacation, and I would visit again in July without hesitation!  It will be hot, and it most likely will rain. A lot.  But with careful planning, and knowing what to expect, you will have a wonderful stay.  Arriving at the theme parks early in the morning is my best advice.  If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, make the most of Extra Magic Hours, where you will have an extra, exclusive hour in the park.  It will be cooler and less crowded, and you will be able to do so much more.  Leaving the parks in the early afternoon ensures you avoid the hottest time of day.  We enjoy afternoons relaxing at the pool, or soaking up the atmosphere inside the hotel whilst making the most of the welcome air-conditioning!  I also enjoy visiting Disney Springs for a slower paced afternoon.

It is likely that theme parks will be open for longer, so you can return later in the day, fully refreshed, for some evening entertainment and maybe a leisurely dinner.  You can see all the opening times on the calendar here, for all the latest up-to-date times.  I also love the water parks, which are usually fully functioning during the summer months.  They are the perfect place in which to enjoy the hot days with all the water rides, lazy rivers and the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool or Melt-Away Bay, the wave pool at Disney's Blizzard Beach.  My top tip: if it rains, try and sit it out.  Many Guests at the parks and water parks will leave when it rains, leaving you with lower crowds, shorter lines, and it will maybe feel cooler too (for a while!).  Remember that those distinctive Disney rain ponchos can be purchased at many shops at the Disney Resort hotels, the theme parks and Disney Springs.

Please come back and visit us again if you have any further questions, specific to your July trip.  We will be happy to help you plan your magical vacation to Walt Disney World Resort, and keep your eye on the Disney Parks Blog for all the latest official news and updates on any events that may be happening during your stay.
