Im the grandmother taking our whole family of 10-dn't understand how to make activity reservations for events. Do we have to do that now? I want to take the kids to all the shows etc, what do I do to make a reservation? What else do I need to do now?

    Hi Kathy!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.  Below is a list of things that you would need to make a reservation for:
    • Advanced Dining Reservations
    • Dinner Shows such as the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue
    • Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
    • Pirates and Pals Fireworks Cruise
    • Illuminations Fireworks Cruise
    • Fishing
    • Horseback Riding
    • Tomorrowland Dessert Party
With the exception of dining, most guests who go to Walt Disney World won't do any of the above.  The attractions in the theme parks do not require a reservation for the most part, though there are some special things such as the Fantasmic Dinner Package which covers both the show Fantasmic and dinner.

Of the list above, the biggest thing is probably making Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs).  ADRs can be made online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE.  They are critical if you want to dine in some of the Table Service restaurants at Walt Disney World.  I recommend making some Disney Character Dining reservations at the very least.  Chef Mickey's is a favorite of many guests!

By the way, I recommend picking up the tour book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It is a great book for first time or infrequent visitors as it is full of information, but is not overwhelming.  It is also a beautiful book full of color photographs.  It will give you a good feel for everything there is to do at Walt Disney World.

I hope this helps!  Write back with more questions!
