I'm giving some thought to visiting Walt Disney World sometime in August, but I'm not sure if I've left it too late before deciding. About how far in advance is the recommended time to make reservations in terms of availability?

Welcome to planDisney, Nick, and thanks for stopping by with your question!

Nick, as a guest who loves to plan, I'm happy to chat with you today about visiting in August. While there are times of the year (like Christmas week) when planning far in advance is very beneficial, in my experience, the end of summer is a bit more relaxed. While I believe there is no perfect time frame because every season is different, guests can start making advanced dining reservations 60 days in advance of their visit, so that might be a useful number to you moving forward. If you know when you'd like to visit and you're hoping to stay onsite at the Walt Disney World Resort, I would encourage you to go ahead and start booking now as Disney Resort Hotel inventory does change daily. You'll also want to make sure that whenever you decide to visit, you check Disney Park Pass availability. This complimentary theme park reservation system is still in effect through the remainder of 2023 and is required (in addition to your ticket) to gain park entry.

Nick, if you're wondering where to start, I'll encourage you to check out the Special Offers page first. Here you'll find a few deals and discounts on tickets and Disney Resort Hotels specifically for summer. When you click on an offer that looks appealing, you'll be taken to a page prompting you to check availability. This might be a great place to begin your exploration of an August adventure!

If you have any additional questions we would be happy to see you here again at planDisney. Once you have booked your trip, come on back for tips regarding Disney Genie+, our favorite dining locations around the Walt Disney World Resort, and more!

    Happy planning,
