Hi there Korri, I'd like to wish you a wonderful wedding welcome to planDisney!
Congratulations on your upcoming Disney Fairy Tale Wedding - as Disney folks and fans ourselves, a number of Panelists have tied the knot with a Disney Wedding and
as the most recent Panelist who got married at Walt Disney World Resort this year, I'm happy to lend a helping hand to any future DisBrides and DisGrooms looking to celebrate their love story at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
One of the greatest things that sets a celebration planned through
Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings apart from anything else is the ability to choose from
venues found within each of the theme parks, which also allows couples to include what is known as an
Attraction Mix-In for you and your wedding guests to enjoy together. Also referred to as a "ride mix-in", these typically take place around the time an attraction is closing so that you can enjoy an exclusively VIP experience unlike any other while wearing your wedding outfits. My husband and I chose
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind which we presented as a surprise to our friends and family at the end of the night! This is however one of the rides where dresses or attire that drags on the ground may not be permitted at the discretion of the event guides and Cast Members operating the attraction; I’ve even observed a bride being told her dress needed to be securely bustled prior to entering the queue to board
Soarin’ Around the World. It’s important to note that it appears that the majority of other attractions available for a mix-in are able to accommodate wedding gowns, but this is always subject to change without prior notice so it’s always a good idea to send your Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings planning team a photo of what you’ll be wearing so that they can determine whether it will be safe. (Some couples have even opted to bring along a spare outfit change just in case, to avoid any disappointment and perhaps an extra bit of comfort after a long day posing in formalwear!)
Something that I found to be incredibly useful was the ability to check out the stories of real Disney Wedding couples on
resources like the Ever After Blog and the Disney Wedding Podcast, where you can get a sense of what the experience is like depending on the attraction that you end up selecting. It’s also a great idea to keep an eye on social media for Disney‘s Fairy Tale Weddings and planning groups for fellow DisBrides online; this was how I found out that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind had suddenly become available as an option! In the meantime, feel free to
come back to planDisney for any other wedding planning advice ahead of the big day.
Here’s to riding into your Happily Ever After!
