“
I'm getting concerned with only 8 days until we visit Disney I've noticed a lot of rain in the forecast - I've waited such a long time to go on vacation. How does this impact my trip?”
Hi Jordan!
This is one of my favorite questions to answer because I get to use my family's motto in the answer: RAIN IS NOT A FACTOR!
This is something my dad has always said to us when doing something fun, like camping, hiking, fishing, or visiting Walt Disney World! And you know what? It's the truth!
First, though, I will say that during summer it is not unusual to see some rain every day in Central Florida. This is just typical weather, and the rain doesn't usually last all day, every day. You will find that very often rain in the forecast usually just means a wonderful shower to cool things off in the afternoon. And, an added benefit is that the crowds usually thin out a little, leaving those who waited it out with shorter lines for their favorite attractions!
We usually either pack or purchase rain ponchos, and when the rain hits, we just pull them on and go for it! most of the attractions stay operational during the rain, unless there are thunderstorms in the area. Then, some of them will close, often to re-open later, after the storms have passed. And trust me, there is still PLENTY to do within each of the Parks, even during a thunderstorm. It's a great time to go for some of those attractions such as Mickey's PhilharMagic, or the Hall of Presidents, or Country Bear Jamboree, where you are inside where it's nice and dry! And don't forget taking advantage of the shopping and dining during these downpours!
I want to encourage you to just keep a good attitude, which goes a long way, and enjoy yourself no matter what the situation. Disney is full of magic, so remember, "RAIN IS NOT A FACTOR!"
