I'm going on my first trip to WDW this Oct with husband and daughter and am confused about seeing the characters. Do they have fast pass lines? Can you only see them at dinners? Commercials make it look like they are walking around, but maybe not?

    Hi Emily,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am excited that you are planning your first trip to the Walt Disney World Resort! Character experiences are a fantastic way to interact with your daughter's favorite characters.

Some of the characters do have Fast Pass+ availability. My girls love to visit with Cinderella and Elena in Princess Fairytale Hall in Magic Kingdom. You could also use a Fast Pass+ to see Rapunzel and Tiana in Princess Fairytale Hall. You are correct, however. Not all character experiences will allow Fast Pass+ reservations.

Anna and Elsa from Frozen, for example, wait patiently for all of the guests to come to visit. No Fast Pass+ is required. Since my family does not like standing in long lines, we typically choose a few Character Meals to attend. A few of our favorites are Chef Mickey's, Cinderella's Royal Table, 1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace. There are several interactions with Princesses at the Walt Disney World Resort. It might be helpful to start with princess experiences to get a sense of how many princess interactions there are at the parks. Then you can search by character name to see others.

I definitely recommend that you use Fast Pass+ if possible and book dining reservations for character meals. Characters typically are not walking around signing autographs!

    Happy Planning!
