I'm 21 and going on my first ever trip to Disney World...solo in mid January! I guess it's a pilgrimage as a former DLR cast member. Are there any suggestions and crowd info you can make for a solo first traveler like myself in his early 20s?

    Hi Jeffrey!

First, I recommend staying on site.  Unlike Disneyland, Walt Disney World is huge and staying on property makes a big difference, especially if you don't have a car!  My favorite Disney Value Resort is Pop Century, my favorite Moderate is Port Orleans Riverside, and my favorite Deluxe is the Wilderness Lodge.

With regards to crowds, I recommend visiting the independent website TouringPlans.com.  They are famous in the Disney fan community for their crowd calendar.  It provides a prediction of the crowds and recommendations on which park to visit on which days.  They also provide touring plans on how to maximize your time in the parks.  There's a lot of math and years of data collection behind their recommendations; as an engineer, I'm a huge fan of their work.

I also recommend picking up either "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal or "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World" by Len Testa; the second is considered "the book" on Walt Disney World, but both are great.

Good luck with planning and write back if you have any more questions!
