Hi there Natalie, I'd like to wish you a great Canadian Welcome aboard planDisney!
I'm super excited for your first time on Disney Cruise Line and always look forward to helping fellow Canadian seafarers navigate their way through what to expect before they set sail. It seems like you're definitely aware of the importance of
your Key to the World card, especially since you'll still need to have it handy whenever you embark and debark the ship.
It's definitely a good idea to keep your Key to the World cards in a safe, readily-accessible place like a lanyard around your neck and I've even purchased special protective cases for mine on board! From my personal experience and that of other folks I've sailed with in the past, your experience may vary as to whether it'll be easy to scan through the case as it may depend on the overall thickness of the holder that your Key to the World card is in or even the reader that is used across
the Disney Cruise Line fleet or in various
Ports of Call. (Just be prepared in the event that you may need to remove it from time to time, as I've personally experienced some older scanning terminals that required cards to be swiped instead.) Unfortunately since I don't know where you've purchased your cases from we can't know for sure until you use them and test it out yourself, but on the bright side at least you'll know for your next voyage!
The introduction of
DisneyBand+ in 2023 has definitely made it easier for some seafarers on the Disney Wish to access their staterooms or make purchases charged to their stateroom folio but Canadians can only purchase these on board at the current time. I'm excited for
newer features and advancements for these across the fleet in the future, but in the meantime stay tuned and be sure to
come back to planDisney for more First-Timer Tips before you embark on your voyage!
Here's to your first time setting sail upon the shimmering seas!
