Hi! I'm going on a family vacation over Columbus Day weekend (october 8-13). The parks all look like they are closing very early. Is there any chance that the park hours will change?

Hi Macayla, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Typically, after the summer rush has quieted down the Walt Disney World Resort settles into an autumn schedule that's a little less busy and includes slightly earlier closing times for the Theme Parks. Also, this is the time of year for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, so the Magic Kingdom Park will close to day Guests at 7:00 p.m. on party nights. During your stay, the happy haunts will be out on October 8, 9, 12 and 13.

I just took a peek at the calendar and it looks like the operating schedule for Columbus Day weekend does feature some longer hours on Saturday and Sunday. The Magic Kingdom will be open until midnight Saturday, Epcot until 10:00 p.m., and even Disney's Animal Kingdom, which usually closes by 6:00 p.m. every night, will stay open until 8:00 p.m. on that Saturday. I do see the hours going back to a more normal fall schedule by the last day of your stay on Tuesday.

Hours do change from time to time, so keep an eye on the Park Hours calendar for the latest updates. And of course, if the closing times are a little earlier than you were hoping for on a particular day, you can always look for Parks with Extra Magic Hours if you're staying in a Walt Disney World Resort hotel.

I hope this helps with your planning, Macayla. Wishing you many hours of fun on your upcoming vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
