im so exciting that im even writing this. it has been a dream that we come to disney... so my question is we are coming with 3 kids one with special needs (developmental disabilities) besides getting a disabilities card is there anything else i should now

    Hi Joy!

Sounds as though you are already familiar with the Guest Assistance Cards (GAC) and how they can facilitate your family's touring throughout Disney Theme Parks. Apart from utilizing the GAC, my biggest tip is to arrive at the theme parks for Rope Drop or early morning Extra Magic Hours. I would recommend taking a mid-day break at the resort before going back to the theme parks for evening parades and fireworks. If your special needs child can't tolerate loud noises, I suggest bringing ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones. If you opt to tour without taking a break back at the resort, consider the following:

    1. In Magic Kingdom take a ride to Tom Sawyer Island.
    2. In Disney's Animal Kingdom ride the Wild Express Train to Rafiki's Planet Watch.
    3. At Disney's Hollywood Studios stop by the tables and chairs area near Echo Lake, or sit on a bench in the quiet stretch of Pixar Place across from the empty Soundstage One.
    4. Epcot has several open spaces and water fountains that can help anyone refocus.

In addition, try to maintain your children's regularly scheduled meal times. I suggest alerting Cast Members about your child's diagnosis and request to be seated in a quieter area of the restaurant, if at all possible. This will go a long way in ensuring an enjoyable vacation for the entire family. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions for you.

Enjoy a most memorable visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
