    IM SO EXCITED!!, we (6) are visiting for the 1st time 1st wk of OCT, staying @ Saratoga Springs, whats the area like? what do I need to prepare my family for?

    Hi Maryella,

    Your first trip to Walt Disney World is so exciting!  You are coming at a great time of year.  In October, crowds are typically lower and the weather is not as hot as it can be in the summer.  You are coming during the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, one of my favorite events at Walt Disney World.  Be sure to head over to Epcot to check out the food booths from around the world, as well as culinary demonstrations and great music in the Eat to the Beat Concert Series. 

    Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa is a lovely resort.  It is themed as a late-1800's upstate New York resort with a focus on horses and horse racing.  The area is tranquil and relaxing.  Be sure to take a cruise along the Sassagoula River.  There is boat transportation offered from Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa to Downtown Disney along the Sassagoula River.  It is a peaceful boat ride.  Also, if anyone in your family enjoys a day at the spa, check out the newly opened Senses - A Disney Spa at Saratoga Springs Resort for some relaxation.  You should know that Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa is quite spread out, and as such, does have an internal bus system for the resort.  You should plan for a little extra time to walk or take the bus around the resort.
