Hello! I’m so excited to sail on the newest and largest Disney Adventure this April! I have a quick question: Can I use my Disney Gift Card to pay for a Placeholder through the Navigator app, or do I need to visit the Future Cruise Desk?

Ahoy Genevieve and welcome to planDisney! How exciting for you to book a cruise on Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship! I’m so happy for you! Our family is hoping to do a trip to Asia this summer, combining a visit to Hong Kong Disneyland with a sailing on the Disney Adventure. Now let’s get to your question so we can get you started on your Adventure!

In order to reserve a placeholder booking towards a future Disney cruise using a Disney Gift Card, you would have to visit the Disney Vacation Planning Desk while onboard. This is generally located on Deck Four, except for on the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and the Disney Destiny, where it can be found on Deck Five. The Cast Members there can provide further instructions. My fellow panelist Tony also recently used a gift card for a placeholder reservation and he shared that you may have to visit Guest Services to process the deposit when using a gift card.

As a reminder with Placeholder Reservations, you have 24 months from the date you purchased the placeholder to book the new cruise. You’ll want to have the gift card handy in case you do not book a future cruise, as Disney Cruise Line will refund your deposit to the original payment method made for the placeholder. In addition, the discount associated with the placeholder generally cannot be combined with other offers. Speaking of other offers, Disney Cruise Line is also offering increased discounts of up to 25% off of voyage fares when you use your Placeholder Reservation on select sailings!

Genevieve, I hope this information is helpful for you as you plan your upcoming sailing on the Disney Adventure. I hope you’re just as excited as I am to ride Ironcycle Test Run, the first roller coaster on a Disney Cruise Line ship and the longest one at sea! As a foodie, I’m also looking forward to all the great dining options on board. If you have any further questions about the Disney Adventure, Disney Cruise Line, or any other Disney vacation, please feel free to contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!

    Your pal,
