I'm excited to see Illuminations on Jan 20 or 21. Might you recommend a restaurant our group (9) might enjoy that evening; and queue time and gazing spots for the show? Your answers are tops; wish we could tuck you in our pocket and have you join our fun!

    Hi Katie,

Thanks so much for you kind words! I am so glad that you are finding the Disney Parks Moms Panel to be helpful.

It looks like Illuminations will occur at 9:00 p.m. on the nights that you mention.
You have a couple of options when it comes to dining and seeing Illuminations. The first is that there are some restaurants around World Showcase Lagoon at Epcot from where you can get a view of Illuminations. These include a window table at Tokyo Dining, or a patio table at Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room. I have never eaten at Tokyo Dining, but my fellow Moms Panelist Wilma tells me that she likes it very much. I do really enjoy a meal at Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room. At these restaurants, you could  an advance dining reservation at about 7:30 or 8:00 p.m., and then be sure that your meal takes long enough to see Illuminations. The issue with this is that you cannot specifically reserve a table with a view of Illuminations. You can only request one when you arrive at the restaurant. I worry that I will not get a table with a view of Illuminations since so many people want one. If you do this at Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room and do not get a table on the patio, you could head to the patio when Illuminations starts.

I prefer to make an advance dining reservation for a restaurant around World Showcase Lagoon around 6;30 p.m. That way I can finish my dinner by about 8:00, and head out to find a spot from which to watch Illuminations. Since there are great viewing areas located all around the World Showcase Lagoon, it should not take you too long to get to one. I really enjoy a meal Les Chefs des France. Then, I head to my favorite spot to watch Illuminations: from the bridge between France and England. If you get there a little after 8:00 p.m., you should be fine.

Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
