I'm a DVC member and I am traveling to WDW with 2 small children around 15 months old. Is it better to buy groceries and cook or do the dining plan? We usually do 2-3 sit down meals a day, but is that too much trouble with 2 young kids? Anyone tried it?

Hi Krystal! Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Traveling with small children means you have to plan for a few breaks in the day...a rested and fed child is a happy camper! I've learned from experience, and that's why Disney Vacation Club villas are the only way we travel.

Having a fully equipped kitchen is simply priceless...you'll save time, money and your sanity by cooking some of your meals in your villa. But it's also nice to enjoy a nice meal out at one of the many fabulous Walt Disney World signature restaurants. I like having the best of both worlds, so we typically do the basic Dining Plan, which includes 1 snack, 1 quick service meal and 1 table service dining meal each day per person. This works for us because we usually have breakfast and snack meals in our villa, which allows me to stretch the value even more.

Children under age 3 don't need a dining plan so choose buffet style restaurants and they'll eat and drink for free! That's what we always did before our twins turned the big 3!

Of course traveling with little ones, I always have snacks on hand when we're in the Disney Theme Parks and I always break up our day so we have some down time in the afternoon.

Wishing you a magical and memorable Disney vacation!
