I'm a DVC member but I want to plan a family-reunion type trip. Who/Where do I go to plan, and possibly apply some DVC points to help with costs? We are also interested in DDP & possibly a 3/4-day DCL trip as well. Its a big trip with a lot of people!

    Hi George,

One of the things that I love about being a Disney Vacation Club member is the flexibility that membership gives you. You can choose large accommodations for this trip, possibly a three-bedroom grand villa if you need one. You could also borrow points from your next use year if you do not have quite enough for this trip in your current use year.

If you want to split your vacation between your Disney Vacation Club vacation points and a traditional payment method such as a credit card or cash, there are a few options. First, you mentioned that you are interested in the Disney Dining Plan. If you book a Disney Vacation Club resort reservation using your vacation points, you can add the Disney Dining Plan. You will need to pay for the Disney Dining Plan using cash or a credit card (you cannot pay for the Disney Dining Plan using vacation points), so this would be one way to split the vacation between payment methods. Also, if you book a Disney Cruise through Disney Vacation Club, only one person must use vacation points. The rest of the guests can use cash or credit card, or vacation points if you wish. The one place where splitting the payment method would be a bit tricky is if you were trying to split a resort reservation between vacation points and cash or credit card. For instance, if you have a seven-night stay in a three-bedroom grand villa at Disney's Old Key West Resort, if you wanted to use vacation points for five nights and cash for two nights, you would need to have two separate reservations. You could note on the reservation that these are for your same party; however, you may still need to check out and back in, and might have to change villas.

I suggest that you start your planning by calling Disney Vacation Club Member Services at 1-800-800-9800 and speak with a cast member there.

I am limited in the space that I have to answer, George. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
