If I’m a dvc member and want to take a cruise how do we use points for it? How do you book ? And how many points does it cost

Ahoy Latasha, welcome home and welcome to planDisney! It sounds like you’re ready to take your Disney vacationing to the next level where the magic meets the sea aboard a Disney Cruise. Our family just sailed on the Disney Dream and now we can’t wait to book another cruise. Now, landlubber, let’s talk about how we can use Disney Vacation Club Vacation Points towards a cruise!

DVC members eligible for Membership Extras have the ability to exchange Vacation Points into the Disney Collection, which includes Disney Cruises, some of the international Disney Resorts, and Adventures by Disney experiences. Now, in order to do so, you’ll first want to look at the point charts for the sailings you’re interested in. Luckily, DVC has these point charts handy here. The point charts are categorized by ship, sailing destination, and departure seasons. Generally, the point charts list the amount of Vacation Points required per person for each stateroom category, based on double occupancy. The bottom of the point chart shows how many additional Vacation Points are needed for additional guests within the same stateroom.

In order to book a Disney cruise, you’ll have to contact Member Services. Here’s a couple reminders about these types of bookings. First, there’s typically a transaction fee associated with these types of exchanges. In addition, the Rule of Four applies to these bookings, which basically means that you have to book a cruise before the last four months of your Use Year for sailings that occur within that Use Year.

Latasha, here’s a bonus tip! DVC recently released specially priced point charts for fall 2026 and spring 2027 itineraries for select sailings on the Disney Dream and Disney Wonder. These deals allow your Vacation Points to go a little further compared to other Disney cruise exchanges. In order to view the point charts for these sailings, visit this website. From there, you’ll want to click on “Show More” under the section that reads “Take Your Points Further!”.

I hope this information is helpful for you as you think about booking a Disney cruise using your Vacation Points. If you have any further questions about DVC, Disney cruises, or Disney vacation planning, please feel free to contact me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!
