Rebecca from North Yorkshire Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

I'm doing my first Disney cruise in September so I'm doing all the research, I've seen that adaptors and extension cords are not permitted onboard, I'm coming from the UK, does that mean I can't take an adapter to use my UK plugs?

Ahoy, Rebecca! Welcome aboard planDisney! As someone who loves having all my essentials within arm’s reach by the bedside, I totally get wanting to make sure you can keep everything charged and shipshape onboard!

Here is the good news, and it is smooth sailing! Disney Cruise Line staterooms (on most ships) have both 110V outlets that fit US and Canadian plugs and 220V outlets that fit European plugs, so you have options depending on what you are bringing.

    Outlets typically accommodate:

    • US (type A) plugs
    • Canadian (type B) plugs
    • European (type F or “Schuko”) plugs

Voltage limits to keep in mind:

    • 110V outlets, max 1500 watts
    • 220V outlets, max 2000 watts

On the Disney Adventure, the electrical requirements differ. Disney Adventure staterooms are equipped with 230V outlets:

    • European (type F or “Schuko”) plugs
    • UK (type G) plugs
    • Chinese (type I) plugs
    • USB-A and USB-C ports

Now, since you are coming from the UK, your plug is usually type G, so you will want to pack an adapter or two so you can plug into the available outlets onboard. Think of it as your little travel “port” of call for charging!

One important reminder before you set sail! Extension cords and certain power strips can be prohibited, especially anything with a surge protector, so be sure anything you bring is not on the prohibited list and does not include surge protection, or it may get confiscated during boarding.

Rebecca, congratulations on your first Disney Cruise! You are in for a real treat, and I would not be surprised if you find yourself ready to book your next voyage before you even disembark! If you do fall in love with life at sea, Disney Cruise Line makes it easy with a Placeholder Reservation, which lets you place a refundable deposit onboard toward a future sailing, and you have up to two years to choose your next adventure. We never leave without thinking about our next!

I cannot wait for you to see where the magic meets the sea! Thanks for sailing this question my way, and please cruise back anytime you need more help!

Wishing you calm seas and a light ocean breeze!
