I'm going to Disneyland in July with my friend, and we're really hoping Matterhorn will open for the trip. How long do refurbishments usually take, and is there a possibility it will be open by early July?

Hello there, Isabel! Welcome to planDisney. We are so glad to see you've stopped by to ask us your planning question!

I wish I had a more concrete answer for your Matterhorn question. As you know, Matterhorn Bobsleds is currently closed for refurbishment, and there has not been a reopening date released as of yet. I took a look at the Daily Events Schedule, which usually goes out about 6 weeks, and it shows that it is still scheduled for refurbishment at the beginning of July. My suggestion would be to just keep checking that as the date gets closer to your arrival and hope that a bit of pixie dust will make your Matterhorn dreams come true. Did you know Matterhorn was the first "mountain" at Disneyland Resort? It was the first rollercoaster at Disneyland, but it was also the first tubular steel coaster in the whole world!

If you are a big fan of Matterhorn, there's a little special something you may be interested in taking home on your visit. For the 70th Celebration, there are some fun popcorn buckets, sippers, cups, and more, and one of those is the Abominable Snowman sipper. I popped into the parks on Friday to make sure I could get one and bring him home with me to add to my office.

Isabel, I wish I had a better answer for you. You know where to find us if you have any other planning questions along the way!
