hello, I'm going to Disney World in a month and wanted to know if there is any benefit for people who have skin cancer because I could not stay long in the sun with my family waiting long minutes of lines.

Greetings Hernan and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Skin cancer must be taken very seriously, and I am glad that you have come to us to assist you plan a safe and pixie dusted vacation. I come from a family with many cases of skin cancer so protection from the sun is always a priority for us.

Several attractions have indoor lines, but as your condition makes it difficult to wait in a regular queue that may not be protected from the sun, I recommend visiting Guest Relations at the theme parks to talk to Cast Members about your specific needs. They will work with you to determine if Disability Access Service (DAS) or other accommodations may be provided. DAS is intended for Guests who have a disability that prevents them from waiting in a regular queue. This service may be used in addition to FastPass+.

My daughter has red hair and extremely fair skin so we do our best to protect her. I suggest arriving early at the parks, going back to your hotel to rest during peak sun hours, and returning late in the afternoon to enjoy your evening. During peak hours you can also do some shopping, have a relaxed meal at a restaurant, and catch shows inside theaters.

Complimentary sunscreen is available at First Aid centers located at all theme parks, but I highly recommend talking to your dermatologist to determine the best sunscreen for your skin and how and when to apply. In addition, talk to your doctor about your vacation and how much exposure to the sun you can and cannot get. Wear a hat, sunglasses, and special clothing that can protect you from UV rays. You are also welcome to bring an umbrella to shield from the sun.

I hope this helps you while planning, Hernan! Please visit us again if you have additional questions.

    Best magical wishes,
