Hi Larissa,
How exciting for you that you are going to participate in the Disney College Program! That is amazing. Congratulations on this accomplishment!
I love your question about what there is to do at Walt Disney World separate from the four theme parks. Let me give you some of my favorite off-the-beaten path activities to do and places to explore at Walt Disney World.
Consider spending some time over at
Disney's BoardWalk. This area has lots of dining, entertainment, nightlife and recreation. You can even rent a
surrey bike to explore the area! Disney's BoardWalk is located on Crescent Lake. This is lovely to walk around, and then you can also access Disney's Beach Club Resort and Disney Yacht Club Resort to explore. I love Disney's BoardWalk area as a relaxing place to spend an afternoon.
You mentioned the
Disney Water Parks, and of course these are loads of fun, offering thrilling water attractions as well as places to relax and rejuvenate, including beaches and lazy rivers. Another suggestion, one location of which is adjacent to Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park, is to play some miniature golf.
Winter Summerland is right next to Disney's Blizzard Beach, or you could also head to
Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf for some fun on the course.
You mentioned Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, which is another favorite for my family. From trail rides to archery to canoe rentals, there are tons of
recreation options at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. Simply being at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground is relaxing and can make you feel like you are a million miles away.
You can of course also explore
Disney Springs. This shopping, dining, and entertainment district offers so much! While many guests are aware of the great shopping and dining here, I like to look for the slightly more unique experiences. You can take a ride in a
hot air balloon or head to the Coca-Cola store and have your picture taken with the
Coca-Cola polar bear! Depending on when you are at Disney Springs, you may also find complimentary entertainment occurring at
Waterview Park.
Please do note that some of the options above do include a fee, so do take a look at the websites for this information before heading to one of them.
I hope that these thoughts give you some ideas for exploring all that there is at Walt Disney World, Larissa. Again, congratulations on your acceptance to the Disney College Program! Please feel free to come back to planDisney with any further questions you have while on this fantastic adventure!
