I’m going to Disney in late July 2025 on a Tuesday. We want to experience both parks in one day but are afraid that ride wait times won’t allow us to get on all the rides we want. How do we plan accordingly?

Anakaren! Welcome to planDisney! You have no idea how thrilling it is for me to hear about this special visit to the Happiest Place on Earth you have coming up! And I'm so honored to be a part of helping you plan a day maximizing the magic!

Both theme parks at Disneyland Resort in one day is incredibly adventurous! Because you will not be able to experience all Disneyland has to offer, my first tip is to make sure you have a solid idea what your 3-4 highest priority attractions are before arriving to the parks. Spend time exploring the park maps in the Disneyland app to decide what looks the most appealing to you. Make your plan based on these priorities.

Now let's talk about your magical day! Arrive to the main gates 30-45 minutes before the stated park opening time and begin your day in Disneyland Park if you have Early Entry and California Adventure if you do not. (Make sure you've made a park reservation!) Use these first couple of hours the park is open to ride your highest priority attractions, as stand by wait times will be at their lowest. Consider purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass to zip past those long lines on additional attractions throughout the day, so you can experience more on your visit to Disneyland. Set a timer on your phone for every two hours to keep booking return times to maximize your time!

Another way to maximize your time while in the parks is to utilize quick service and mobile ordering from the Disneyland app versus spending time at sit-down meals. I might have one sit-down meal on any given day, and the rest of the time I'm snacking my way around the park. There's so much to try and it will save you precious time!

I hope this information has been helpful in your planning, Anakaren, but oh my goodness, there's just so much more I could share! Please stop by again with another question! I didn't even get to tell you about quintessential Disneyland treats to try or what to ask Tigger when you meet him.

I'm so very excited for you. Enjoy.

    Warmest wishes,
    McCayla

Hello from the Pacific Northwest! I'm McCayla, a wife and mom dreaming of adventure in the great wide somewhere, yet also completely content watching Toy Story from the couch. My love of Disneyland began as a little girl on Peter Pan's Flight and only grows with each visit. But even when I'm not physically at the Happiest Place on Earth, I truly feel that same joy when I can help others (YOU!) experience the magic of Disneyland Resort too.
