I'm going to Disney in Jan. to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. My bride loves cooking shows. Is there anything I could surprise her with, that pertains to cooking? I was thinking, the California Grill counter? How do I hide it? Surprise is the key.

    Hi, Bill!

Happy anniversary to you both! <3

There is a really wonderful interview with California Grill's Brian Piasecki in which he details the Omakase Experience at California Grill's Sushi Bar. For details, head to the fantastic, unofficial site AllEars.Net, and enter "California Grill" in the search bar. Select Deb Wills' post from September 11, 2013, entitled "Re-imagined California Grill Videos and Photos" for a look at what you'll see when dining there.

For more options, consider the Flying Fish Cafe-Chef's Tasting Wine Dinner, where Guests enjoy a 5-course prix fixe menu that's paired with carefully chosen wines while seated at the exclusive chef's counter. Victoria & Albert's 7 or 10 course prix fixe dining is another excellent way to treat your wife to a truly special meal, as this beautiful location has been a AAA Five Diamond Award recipient since 2000. Dining at Chef's Table (if available) would be the piece de resistance of your trip!

At any of these, call Disney Dining at (407) WDW-DINE and tell the Cast Member assisting you where you'd like to be seated and that this is a surprise anniversary celebration for your wife. Once booked, don't tell your wife the location for dinner that night. Perhaps write a few notes with hints and leave them tucked here and there throughout your vacation, mentioning a special item from the menu or  that she'll need to leave room for something really special that night. This will build up the suspense for what's sure to be a night to remember!

Happy anniversary, Bill! Send more questions as you plan this special celebration in WDW; we love to help!
