Ahoy Eric and welcome to planDisney! As an avid runner myself, I appreciate you wanting to stay active while on a
Disney cruise. You may even find me putting in some extra miles on the mornings when churro Mickey waffles are served on board. Now, let’s sprint to your next question!
As my
fellow panelist Tony notes, the Disney Destiny (similar to her sister ships the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure) feature an outdoor promenade that is open for walking and jogging. However, unlike some of the previous Disney ships the promenade is not a continuous loop and the promenade does span across several decks. So, I suggest proceeding with caution when going up and down the stairs on Decks 4 through 6 to continue jogging along the promenade. For a more detailed look at the ship side promenade on the
interactive deck plan on the DCL website. Make sure to select the correct ship on the drop down menu.
Eric, if you don’t feel like dealing with the stairs, don’t worry! There’s other options for you to get a run in during your cruise. The
Senses Fitness Center on Deck 5 has top-of-the-line treadmills and elliptical machines that offer amazing ocean views while you run. In addition, if your ship will be stopping at
Castaway Cay, there is a self-guided 5K trail on the island. Here’s a bonus tip! I recommend getting out for the run first thing in the morning to avoid the heat midday. Luckily, there’s plenty of water stations in the more secluded parts of the trail. And don’t forget to pick up the medal from the Bike Rental Stand upon completion for your hard efforts!
Eric, I hope this information was helpful for you as you plan out how to stay active during your upcoming Disney cruise. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to
reach out to me and my fellow panelists here at planDisney!
Your pal,
Sean
