I’m going on Disney Cruise and I got a late arrival time. This would be my third sailing on the Disney cruise ships. I’m just wondering why my second cruise I got an 11 o’clock arrival time and this time I got a 1 o’clock is there a way to change that?

    Hi there, Lizabeth!

Welcome back to planDisney. It's a pleasure to help fellow Disney Cruise Line guests make the most of a magical Disney cruise vacation. It sounds like you are like my family. We enjoy spending as much time as possible aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships.

I'm always excited to get to the cruise ship terminal as soon as we can. That said, I'm also in awe of how organized and smooth Disney Cruise Line makes the experience. Assigned Port Arrival Times help make that possible. The times available for Port Arrival Times depend on the cruise itinerary and the schedule of the cruise ship terminal. Selecting from available Port Arrival Times is done on a first-come basis. If a given cruise itinerary should happen to have a higher proportion of Castaway Club members with higher status, they may have the opportunity to complete their online check-in sooner. In some cases, Guests may choose to update their Port Arrival Time to a later hour. So you may wish to log into your reservation occasionally to see if any earlier Port Arrival Times become available to select.

For a more care-free experience on embarkation day, my family appreciates the convenience of Disney-provided ground transportation. When booking airport transfers or hotel transfers with Disney, you don't have to pick a Port Arrival Time. Though a specific arrival time isn't guaranteed with these ground transportation options, my family's experience has been that they tend to get us to the cruise ship terminal relatively early. And with Disney transportation, we usually have a somewhat streamlined check-in experience at the terminal as well.

In addition to your Port Arrival Time, you also have an assigned Boarding Group number. You can find your Boarding Group number on your Port Arrival Form. Earlier Boarding Group numbers are generally assigned to passengers in concierge staterooms and suites, Guests with higher Castaway Club levels, and those with earlier Port Arrival Times. Even when we have a somewhat later Boarding Group number, my family at least enjoys the time waiting in the cruise ship terminal. Sometimes there are decorations or characters to enjoy. And there is usually an opportunity to connect to the DCL-GUEST Wi-Fi network while in the cruise ship terminal. That way, we can log on to the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App, set up our complimentary on-ship messaging connections, and start to browse the many onboard activities and experiences.

I hope you have a marvelous cruise, Lizabeth. Please visit us again at planDisney if we can help with more of your Disney vacation planning.
    ~Tony
