Hi Amanda,
Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel for assistance planning your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
The "secret sleeper bed" in Disney's Polynesian Villa's and Bungalows is technically "bunk size", which is not quite the same as a standard twin bed. The mattress measures 30" wide and 73" long, as compared to a twin which is normally 39" wide and 75" long. Whether or not your teen could comfortably fit on this bed would depend entirely on his/her height. My daughter's would fit perfectly fine, but my teen son would be very uncomfortable. You can view photos of this bed on a
this Disney Parks Blog post regarding Disney's Polynesian Villa's and Bungalows.
To answer the second part of your question, I reached out to fellow
Disney Parks Moms Panelist Leslie. She has toured many of the various villa options at this property. Leslie shared the following information: "All the villas have the one Queen, pullout sofa, and the Murphy beds. The standard non-Villa rooms have the 2 queens and a pull out sofa day bed, which is larger than the Murphy. It's considered a day bed. It flips down to a twin size mattress and you sleep sideways." Since this option is slightly larger than the Murphy bed, depending on the height of your teen, you might want to book a regular room at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort instead.
I hope this helps. Please let us know if we can assist you further with accommodations for large families. The video which I attached shows the Murphy bed and should give you a good idea of the actual size.
Wishing you magical memories,
Kaylene
