Hello I’m currently deployed and returning home soon and I was hoping to find out if Disney helps service members surprise their family. My family already has tickets to the park and I will be buying mine shortly but I wanted to surprise them at the park.

    Hi Alex, welcome to planDisney!

First, let me extend my heartfelt gratitude for your service and the sacrifices you make to protect our freedom. Please also thank your family for their sacrifices during your deployment. Their strength and support are truly remarkable. It’s an absolute honor to help you plan the perfect surprise for your loved ones during your well-deserved time at the Most Magical Place On Earth!

While Walt Disney World doesn’t have a specific team dedicated to orchestrating surprise reunions, Hakuna Matata! I have some ideas to help you create an unforgettable moment. While there is no guarantee, you should consider reaching out to Disney Meetings & Events to see if they can assist in coordinating something special. They’re known for planning awesome celebrations for common and unique occasions.

Another idea is to plan a moment that ensures your family is at a specific location and time, allowing you to coordinate your grand surprise. For example, booking an Enchanting Extra Capture Your Moment photo session at Magic Kingdom Park could be perfect. While your family poses for photos, you could walk up and surprise them—imagine the joy, laughter, and tears of happiness captured by a professional photographer with Cinderella Castle in the background. These sessions are also available at EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so you have plenty of options to choose from.

You could also surprise them during a Disney Character dining experience. Consider making a reservation at Cape May Café at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. This delightful restaurant offers character dining in the mornings, and you don’t need to be a Guest of the resort to dine there. If you’re able to secure a reservation, imagine the look on their faces when you appear at their table, a moment they’ll never forget!

Lastly, you could create a surprise they’ll cherish forever by booking an Enchanting Extra, such as a Fireworks Cruise or a Magic Kingdom Dessert Party. These events not only guarantee a magical experience but also provide the perfect backdrop for a heartwarming family reunion.

I hope these suggestions help you craft the ultimate surprise for your family! If you have any other questions as you finalize your plans, please don’t hesitate to pop back by planDisney. I’m so grateful for your service and thrilled to know you’re returning home safe and sound. Wishing you and your family a vacation filled with unforgettable memories and magical moments!

    Cheers,
    Brent
