Welcome aboard planDisney! I know we don’t really want to think about debarkation day while we’re still looking forward to the Disney Destiny, but those travel details have to be planned eventually. I’m glad you’re getting this figured out ahead of time!
When departing from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Disney recommends booking a
flight that departs no earlier than 11:00 AM. This gives you time to enjoy your final breakfast onboard, leave the ship when you’re ready, gather your luggage, and make your way to the airport.
You may hear other Guests recommend an earlier flight because the airport is so close to
Port Everglades and the drive is relatively short. While an earlier flight can certainly be possible, I personally wouldn't recommend cutting it that close. The Express Walk-Off option, where you keep your luggage with you and carry it off the ship yourself once the ship is cleared, can get you on your way quite early. However, you never know when an unexpected delay could pop up and put a damper on your travel plans.
For me, that extra buffer is worth it. I’d much rather have a little time to relax at the airport than spend the final morning of my cruise watching the clock and wondering whether I’m going to make my flight. After all, the Destiny has plenty of ways to keep you busy during the sailing, so there’s no reason to make your last morning feel like a race against time.
