Hi I'm going on a cruise over Xmas Eve and Day this year. I've just been told it is not a very merry time cruise which has surprised me given the sail dates. Does this mean the ship will not celebrate christmas onboard?

    Ahoy Simon!

I took a close look at December sailings and found only one itinerary over Christmas that is not a Very Merrytime Cruise, and it is on the new Disney Destiny. Since the holiday season lines up with the first few sailings of the Destiny, I would not expect a full Christmas display or scheduled activities. You may see a little holiday fun or lighter decor, but it is not guaranteed. The good news is that your voyage includes a call at Castaway Cay, and in my experience, the island adds a touch of holiday magic during the season.

If Christmas cheer is a must for your crew, bring the merry with you. Pack a few simple decorations for your stateroom and plan a pajama night. One of my favorite memories from our last holiday cruise was wearing Christmas pajamas to dinner. It turned an ordinary evening into a festive celebration and made for wonderful photos.

    Bon voyage and merry Christmas!
