I'm going on a cruise w/ a 6 mo. I want to bring an inflatable chair so my baby can use it in the bathtub, around us in the pool deck and at the beach. She is too little to seat on her own. We WILL NOT put it in the pool/splash pad/ocean. Allowed?

    Ahoy, Nathalia!

Welcome aboard planDisney! What a special adventure you have ahead! Cruising with a 6-month-old might feel a little like traveling with your own tiny royal passenger, and while your little sailor may not remember the sailing, you will absolutely be creating some priceless family memories.

It sounds like you’ve done your homework and are just looking for that final confirmation as you finish putting together your packing list. The good news is that small inflatables like the one you described are generally allowed to be brought onboard, especially if you plan to use it in places like your stateroom bathtub or at the beach. You are also exactly right that it cannot be used in the pools, splash pads, or ocean, so you’re already thinking about it the right way.

One thing I would gently caution about is using it on the pool deck. Even though you don’t plan to use it in the water, the open decks can get surprisingly breezy while the ship is sailing. If it’s not in use, a lightweight inflatable can sometimes try to make a great escape faster than Aladdin on a magic carpet ride. Keeping it nearby or deflated when you’re not actively using it can help prevent it from wandering off across the deck.

Something else that is important for families cruising with infants is the swim diaper policy onboard Disney ships. Due to public health regulations, swim diapers are not permitted in the pools. I know that can feel like a bit of a bibbidi bobbidi bummer when you’re hoping to splash around together.

The good news is that every ship features a splash pad area designed specifically for little ones ages 4 and under, and swim diapers are allowed in those areas. They are colorful, fun, and a great place for the youngest cruisers to cool off while parents stay close by. It may not be the same as floating in the pool together, but it still provides a fun way for babies and toddlers to enjoy some water play during the sailing.

I hope this helps as you finish preparing for your family’s sailing. Cruising with a baby may come with a few extra packing considerations, but Disney does a wonderful job making even the tiniest Guests feel welcome. Before you know it, you’ll be strolling the decks, taking adorable photos, and watching your little one experience their very first Disney adventure at sea.

Sea ya real soon as springtime magic begins to ripple across the water,
