I'm considering booking one of the Pirate Adventures for my boys, 5 and 7. My oldest has special needs and needs a watchful eye though he is independent with his personal needs. Should I feel confident he will be 'safe' going on this adventure?

Hi Tricia! The resort pirate cruises are so much fun for the kids but yes indeed no adults allowed as they search for the hidden treasures! There are two Disney cast members on each cruise and they are all certified life guards as well as CPR trained. However, this is something that has to be your call. It is best to discuss this with the cast members personally. You can sign up but suggest you find a time where you can personally talk with them about your child's needs and limitations. I would do this before you tell the boys that they will be on this special activity. If they feel safety might be compromised and it is not in your sons best interest you can cancel your reservation. As an alternative there is a Pirates Fireworks cruise that the entire family can enjoy. This might satisfy their pirate interest and you won't worry about the activity as you will be there to oversee the boys. It is great fun that includes a few special surprises as well as super viewing of the Magic Kingdom Wishes show.
