Hiya, Mike! Thanks for visiting planDisney with another great vacation planning question. I hope our advice in the past has been helpful! The upcoming launch of the new
Lightning Lane system has certainly been a hot topic recently, and I'm happy to help with your query as we look forward to the launch in just a couple of weeks.
The new system combines elements of Fastpass+ with the current Genie+ system that has been in use for the past few years. The Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass will allow Guests to pre-book some attractions--this is music to my ears! I think it will be great to arrive at The Most Magical Place on Earth with some of our experiences already planned out. The pre-arrival booking window is 7 days before check-in for Guests staying in a Walt Disney World
Resort Hotel, and 3 days for off-site Guests.
Mike, you can only use the Multi Pass and Single Pass for an individual attraction once per day, and you cannot purchase more than one Multi Pass for the same day. For example, if you score a ride reservation for
Soarin' Around the World at
EPCOT and wish to ride it a second time later in the day, you can always hop in the standby line. I like to keep an eye on the Wait Times in the
My Disney Experience app so I can scoot back to a particular favorite attraction for a second turn!
I know that you are a regular Guest at
Disneyland Resort, so I want to clarify an important difference. Although the Lightning Lane name will go into effect at Disneyland on July 24, the actual system of making selections for attractions is not changing at this time. Guests will still book as they do with Genie+, with availability opening up each day at 7:00 AM.
I hope this information is helpful for your planning purposes, Mike! If you have any other questions about the new system or our top tips and tricks for making the most of it, please stop back anytime. We're here to help!
See Ya Real Soon!
