I'm concerned about Marathon crowds during my January 3-8th trip. I had thought we would avoid the crowds at this time of year but I saw a post where you said their would be higher crowds due to the Marathon. How bad does it usually get?

Hi Irene! The marathon weekends at Disney are very popular with most races selling out and adding some crowds to the parks. But your trip starting on January 3 and ending on January 8 should be missing most of the added crowds.  The race festivities basically begin on Thursday January 10 and continue through Sunday, January 13.  Some participants will arrive a few days before and you might see a small increase at the end of your vacation. It is very hard to predict the park numbers as the racers themselves are interested in the race activities and not necessarily the parks. However, if they bring family and friends those are the guests who will head to all four and bring up some of the counts.

This is still a great time to go and you should have a wonderful vacation from January 3-8. Basically you are avoiding heavy crowds and although the weather can be cool or even cold at this time of year it is a super choice for your vacation timing!
