I'm coming to WDW in April for my 30th birthday staying at the grand Floridian and the yacht club. I've be Disney's lots but I'm looking for special things to do like where should I eat and what should I do. I'm coming with my parents and 2 yr old daughter

    Samantha:

First of all, make sure that you make a note on your reservation that you will be celebration your 30th birthday. You should receive a Birthday Button that you should EVERYWHERE because you never know when pixie dust will be sprinkled.

For creative ideas, consider browsing through Disney's Custom Celebrations to add a little spark. Like you, I've visited Disney many times and for our last vacation, I wanted to share some new experiences as a family. Here are two that I chose--and one on my wish list--that you may want to consider:

    • Make a reservation at a Signature Restaurant like California Grill atop the Contemporary Hotel. I booked about 30 minutes before sunset to see the landscape turn from day to night. The menu has my mouth watering as I type, and best of all, most of the tables by the windows seat four.
    • Book a fireworks cruise. For the same price as the cost of the dinner shows, splurge on your own private cruise around Seven Seas Lagoon to enjoy the Electrical Water Pageant and Magic Kingdom Fireworks or cruise the waterway off Crescent Lake to take in Illuminations. The Pirates & Pals voyage may be easier on your budget with a smaller family. My boys remember the dessert reception more than the cruise!
    • Rent a SeaRaycer and explore any of the waterways on the property. I've always wanted to rent them at Downtown Disney and head down the Sassagoula River to Port Orleans to see the Treehouses at Saratoga Springs up close...

    Wishing you a magical birthday!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
