Bright Suns, Chad!
We are thrilled to see that you are planning a visit to Batuu. Having visited just a few weeks ago, I am happy to provide some advice.
If you have not done so already, check the
park hours for the dates of your visit. I encourage you to arrive about 30 minutes prior to opening so that you can clear security before opening time. Be sure that you have downloaded the
My Disney Experience Mobile App. On one day, we were able to join a boarding group by 7:01 a.m. (park opened at 7:00 a.m.), we joined boarding group 38, and were able to ride the attraction by 10:00 a.m. On another day, the mobile app did not register three of my family members as in the park, despite their multiple attempts to scan in again at the entrance, so we had to enlist the help of a Cast Member. She was able to put us in boarding group 101 by 7:15 a.m. We were able to ride by about 8:30 p.m. On both days, we saw Cast Members stationed along Hollywood Boulevard, so I would advise you to locate one or two Cast Members who can assist with the boarding group process before trying to join a boarding group just in case you need assistance.
Given the popularity of this attraction and the crowds we witnessed prior to park opening on multiple days, I cannot say that one day is better than another is. It was crowded but manageable and we loved the excitement! Although we did see the Disney Skyliner operating early on the mornings we went to join a boarding group, the posted operating time was 7:30 a.m. during our visit, so I would also have a backup transportation plan. Remember that you may use
Disney Minnie Van™ Service Connected by Lyft. Just be sure that the operating hours correspond to the time you would like to arrive. We have also used ride-sharing services with Lyft and Uber to get to Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Also, consider your other attraction plans for the day. On one day we went directly to ride
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and had breakfast at Hollywood & Vine after joining a boarding group but before experiencing
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. On another day, we joined our boarding group and then went back to our resort and did other activities before returning to the park later that evening.
Chad, our Resistance forces need all available support. I trust you have downloaded the
Star Wars: Datapad on Play Disney Parks Mobile App so that you can hack into droids or translate galactic languages. Be prepared to face the First Order. Our forces anxiously await your arrival.
Good journey,
Donyell
