Im coming to disney world in 12- 28-13 to 1-7-14 i have a drs note that i will need a wheel chair, how does this pass work will i be able to get on rides or is it just like fast pass? should i just cancel my trip if i'll be waiting in lines all day

    Hi Nancy,

I do not think a wheel chair should deter you from enjoying the Walt Disney World Resorts. Disney has done a good job of accomodating guests who need a little extra pixie dust.

In October, there was a change to their program. Now guests who need extra assistance can go to Guest Relations and ask about the Disability Assistance Service (DAS) Card. If you are eligible, you will receive a time to return to an attraction which does not have another way to provide access. For guests in wheelchairs, many of the queues have been widen so you can wait in the lines with your party. You can also use the FastPass system to reduce your wait.

If you need to rent a wheelchair, you can do that at the park provided they have a chair available. You can save your reciept and use it another park later in the day. Disney only has a limited number of wheelchairs and ECV's available to guests and are only for use in the parks. If you will require one for the resort, you will need to bring a wheelchair from home or rent one from a local provider.

Remember this is the busiest time of the year and there will be long lines for every guest. After New Years Day, you should see shorter wait times.

You can read more information on Disney's Guests with Disabilities tab on their website. It has great tips.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
