Hello!! I'm coming to Disney for Thanksgiving! It is also my mom 50th birthday that day! We want to go to Liberty Tree, but we know how hard that's going to be! I was wondering if I could have some backup options for this dinner for 11 people!!

    Hi Kristin,

What a big celebratory vacation! Both my husband and I celebrated our 50th birthdays at Walt Disney World, and we're in the midst of planning our third Thanksgiving vacation there, so I've got several ideas for you.

You are correct that Liberty Tree Tavern may be the most sought-after Thanksgiving reservation. If you aren't successful with that reservation, I'd suggest trying Trail's End at Fort Wilderness. It's convenient to Magic Kingdom and serves a variety of traditional foods. For the holiday, I'd expect it to add turkey and trimmings to the other selections. The buffet restaurants also tend to have better options for large parties. Or consider my family's choice: the buffet at Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It's our second time there for the holiday. We also had a yummy Thanksgiving dinner a couple of years ago at Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge.

If you are looking to plan an additional celebration for your mom's birthday, you may want to look at one of the signature restaurants, such as California Grill, with its view of Magic Kingdom, or Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge with its elegant African-influenced cuisine. Or maybe something fun like Raglan Road with its Irish dancing show or Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue?

I hope that gives you some good ideas, Kristin. I'm out of space but please check back if you need other details or have more questions. Enjoy!
