I’m coming to Disney on December 12. One guest cannot make the trip. Can I let my dad take that spot in our trip? No other changes would be needed. Same number in group and same itinerary.

    Hi Matt,

You are going to be at The Most Magical Place on Earth in less than one month! How exciting is that? I hope you're in full-on countdown mode, getting excited for all the magic and fun you'll enjoy! I'm happy to let you know that you'll be able to switch Guests so your dad can enjoy the trip with you, but how to do that varies depending on what it is you want to update. Let's look at some of the options...

First, all completely unused tickets may be transferred to another Guest to be able to use. You'll simply want to find the ticket within your My Disney Experience account online or within the handy dandy My Disney Experience mobile app and select "Reassign Ticket." You'll be able to move the ticket to any other Mouseketeer on your Family & Friends list. If your dad isn't currently on your list, here's a guide for how the two of you can connect!

You're exactly right that switching one Guest for another on a dining reservation won't have any impact, so you won't need to worry about that...although you can if you'd like! To do so, find your dining reservation and click "Update Party" to swap out one Guest for another.

If you're staying at a Disney Resort hotel, there's currently no way to edit the names of your Guests online. You'll want to call (407) 939-1936 to ask a Cast Member to update the Guests in your room so that your dad will be able to access the room with his MagicBand or card, too, and make any dining or merchandise charges back to the room if need be.

Finally, you'll need to make sure that he has a Disney Park Pass reservation along with his ticket. If the name on the reservation doesn't transfer automagically when you transfer the ticket, you'll want to make sure he has one. There's still plenty of availability the week of your visit, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding openings.

By making these changes ahead of time, you'll be all set to have the right crew when it's time to join a virtual queue or make Disney Genie+ selections together. If at any point you need some assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to a friendly Cast Member who can access your My Disney Experience account.

Thanks so much for visiting us at planDisney, Matt, and please come back and see us again if we can help with anything else. I hope you and all of your fellow Mouseketeers have a truly magical vacation together!
