I'm coming from Australia where we don't have Lyft. I don't have the app or an account. Will a Cast Member at my resort be able to book a Minnie Van for me? If so, how can I pay and how much notice is usually required?

Greetings, Emmanuel, welcome back to planDisney, we thank you and appreciate your loyalty!

Emmanuel, I am happy to hear that you are interested in the Walt Disney World Resort – Minnie Van™ Service, and as a frequent patron of the service myself, I can say with great confidence that my family thoroughly enjoys this personalized form of transportation throughout Walt Disney World Resort during our stay.

At this time, the Minnie Van™ Service is connected by Lyft, a US-based rideshare service and it is currently the only way to book a ride after you have downloaded the Lyft app, where you also pay for the service. I am aware that at this time the Lyft app is not available in Australia, therefore, you may wish to consider downloading the Lyft app upon your arrival to the US and then offloading it when you leave.

One important aspect to consider is, that while complimentary WiFi throughout Walt Disney World Resort is generally reliable, my personal experience has been that it can be spotty at times, thereby not providing an efficient service. As a result, since I reside in Canada, I purchase a US SIM card for my mobile device for my visits to the US and in return, I save quite a bit of money by not using my Canadian data carrier whose daily roaming rates are expensive.

Emmanuel, as soon as I land at Orlando International Airport, I purchase my US SIM card at one of a few locations in the airport, such as InMotion and Sound Balance, in the Main Terminal (pre-security) and InMotion on air sides 2, 3 & 4 (post-security).

I really hope that you consider utilizing the fun and efficient Minnie Van™ Service during your visit for your relaxing ride to and/or from the theme parks, or anywhere else within Walt Disney World Resort. The drivers are Cast Members who are friendly and courteous and often share interesting historical fun facts about Walt Disney World Resort.

When ready to order your Minnie Van™ Service, it’s best to be very close to or at the location of pick up and you can monitor the vehicle on the Lyft app as it approaches the pick-up location.

You will be visiting during Walt Disney World Resort's - 50th Anniversary Celebration, be sure to make your advance Disney Park Pass – Theme Park Reservations through Start Your Disney Experience for each day of valid theme park admission, as this is the method of accessing the theme parks at this time.

Emmanuel, I hope this information is helpful to you with your decision regarding the Lyft app. Please stop by planDisney for any other planning advice you may need, thank you!
