Hi there, Apryl!
Welcome, and thank you for bringing a question to us at
planDisney. Your son is going to have so much fun exploring the magic of the Happiest Place on Earth with his friends!
Purchasing a
Disney Gift Card for your son to use is a wonderful idea. In fact, that is exactly what I did recently when my teenage son visited the
Disneyland Resort with a friend’s family, and it worked out really well. He doesn’t have a credit card in his name and I didn’t want him to worry about carrying a large amount of cash while he explored the park, so a gift card was the perfect solution.
Disney Gift Cards can be used to purchase almost everything Disney-related, such as food, beverages, and merchandise at the theme parks and the Disneyland Resort Hotels. Your son can also pay with a Disney Gift Card when buying theme park snacks at outdoor food and beverage carts in the parks. Several of the restaurants and shops in the
Downtown Disney District are owned by third-party companies, so they don’t all accept the Disney Gift Card. However, he can pay with a gift card at any location that is owned by Disney, such as Disney Home, Marceline's Confectionery, and World of Disney, to name a few.
I recommend that you create an account at
disneygiftcard.com and register the gift card you plan to give your child. This gives you the ability to transfer additional funds to the card online while he's at the resort, and it’s also a smart way to protect your money in case the card is misplaced because you’ll be able to move the funds to another card if need be.
I hope this is helpful, Apryl, and that your son has a perfectly pixie-dusted time! Please feel free to
write back to me with any other questions you may have as he prepares for his visit to the
Disneyland Resort.
Wishing you magic,
Courtney
