I’m buying a 1 day ticket for my 2 older teen sons using my account. I won’t be buying a ticket for myself. Can they use my MDE account to use that day to book LL and genie plus? Or do they need their own MDE accounts to get in? Thanks!

    Hello Lori-Ann!

Welcome to planDisney! Did anyone tell you lately how awesome you are? Seriously. A mom buying tickets to Walt Disney World Resort for her sons is a gold medal mom and I'm glad that you are here trying to figure out the details.

You can absolutely use your own My Disney Experience Account when purchasing tickets for your kids! You now have two options. You can allow your kids to use your account while in the Parks or let them create their own and link your account to theirs. If your older teen sons are older than the age of 13 they can create their own My Disney Experience Account and if they are 18 and older they can link their payment information for easy purchasing through the app. To clarify, they can pay for items in the app if they are under 18 but they will have to enter the payment information each time as it won't save. I have allowed my husband to use my account information when in the Parks just for convenience with no issue. Just make sure that the ticket they are using is linked to their name. If they are using your account and don't want to make their own you will create a managed profile for them. A managed profile allows your kids to have their name linked to their ticket but they won't have the ability to log into the App with that name. My personal recommendation is that you have your kids make their accounts and link them to your Family & Friends List. Then, assign their tickets to their accounts and let them run free happily through the Parks. Correction, walk free happily as there is no running in the Parks.

Some recent information has made its way to me that stated that technically Canadian guests are not able to download the My Disney Experience Mobile App until they arrive in the United States. I'm sorry if that is true as it would be a help to peruse before you arrive but it's not going to impede your fun. When they arrive in the States, make sure they download the App and play around with all the features. The most important pathway to remember is to click on the three stacked lines on the bottom right of the app and then click on "My Disney Genie Day." You will see on the top an option to "Start Here to Plan Your Day!" which will let you set up the information you will need to have a great day! By letting the App know your preferences and interests, Disney Genie will help organize your day with an itinerary and sort the attractions that your kids may want to enjoy near the top of the page. Less scrolling for more efficiency!

I hope this helps and your sons have a great time!

    Happy Planning!
