Im brining my son he will be 2 and a half when we arrive at Disney for his first time. Will they need proof of age?

Hello Mercedes! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am excited for your son to have his first visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth! You are going to make many special memories for your family!

I have traveled with my children, nieces, and nephews to the Walt Disney World Resort when they were all around the same age as your son. I can share that we have never been asked to show proof-of-age to enter a park or to enjoy a dining experience. When you book your Walt Disney World Resort vacation either online or via phone, you will be asked to provide your child's "Age at Travel." This will be used to identify your child's age throughout your vacation. That being said, if it gives you peace of mind, you might consider using your cell phone to take a photo of your child's birth certificate just in case you are asked to provide documentation.

Mercedes, your little prince will be able to enjoy many attractions offered in the Disney Parks. However, he will be too small to enjoy some of the thrill rides. If you are traveling with another adult, be sure to take advantage of Rider Switch. This benefit allows one adult to enjoy the attraction, while the other adult stays with your son. When the other adult returns they can watch your son while you enjoy the attraction without having to wait in the regular line. There are many attractions in the Disney Parks that use this family-friendly system!

Also, don't forget to stop by Guest Relations or your Disney Resort Hotel concierge desk to ask for a free 1st Visit button! Your son can where this throughout his vacation. Cast Members will go out of their way to make your son feel very special during his first visit!

One final recommendation to help make your son's first visit extra special! The Walt Disney World Resort offers many Character Dining experiences throughout the parks and resorts. If your son has a favorite character, consider booking a breakfast, lunch, or dinner where he will get to meet that special Disney character. We did this when our children had their first visit. They were beyond excited!

Please come back to visit us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel as you continue to plan your son's magical first experience to the Walt Disney World Resort!
