Hello, I'm bringing three of my grandsons, (ages 8, 5 & 3) to Disney World in July 2019. They are big train enthusiasts! Will either the Wildlife Express Train in Animal Kingdom or the Walt Disney World Railroad in Magic Kingdom be open?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Kelly!

If your grandsons are big train enthusiasts, then they are in good company because the man behind it all, Walt Disney himself, was known to be a great train enthusiast as well! He insisted that trains were included in the original designs of Disneyland Resort, and he even had his own miniature railroad, the Carolwood Pacific Railroad, at his home in California. I'm sure he would be happy to know that his love of the railway is being passed down to a new generation!

I'm a big fan of the Wildlife Express Train, a train at Disney's Animal Kingdom that transports guests from Africa to Rafiki's Planet Watch, and I'm happy to tell you that it's set to re-open this summer. We don't know the exact date that the train will start taking guests again, but I hope you and your grandsons are able to enjoy it together. As you mentioned, the Walt Disney World Railroad is also undergoing some refurbishment. There's still some work to be done on the tracks themselves, but the last time I was at Magic Kingdom Park, there was a train at the Main Street, U.S.A. Station for guests to look at and take pictures with. The conductor even let me ring the bell! If after that, your grandsons still can't get enough of the railroad, you should choo-choo on over to Epcot and check out the model train on display at the Germany Pavilion.

    Have a magical day, Kelly!
