Hi there, Jacqueline! Welcome to planDisney!
Your question put a big smile on my face! It's so much fun to take a little Mouseketeer to Walt Disney World for the very first time and see his eyes light up as he takes it all in. My son was just a baby when he made his Disney debut, but he's discovered so much as he's grown, and I've loved every single magical moment.
Before your vacation even begins, you can make it special by starting a countdown like the ones
we've compiled on our planDisney Panel Extras page. I know you're only a few days out now, but I love my fellow panelist Ashley's idea to surprise her kids by packing a few Disney-themed gifts for the plane. That way, your Disney adventure can feel like it's starting early!
When you arrive, be sure to pick up a "1st Time" button for him. You can ask for one at the front desk of your Resort hotel, or at most of the shops in the Theme Parks. The Cast Member will hand write your nephew's name on the button, or you can have it customized at
Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in the Magic Kingdom Park for only a few dollars (they do gorgeous customization of Christmas ornaments there if you want to pick up a nice memento!). Your nephew will love all the warm greetings he gets from Cast Members as he wears his button around the Parks!
If you visit
EPCOT during your stay, check out one of my family's must-do's! The Taste of EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is going on now, and we absolutely love the
kids' activities like Spike's Pollen-Nation Exploration scavenger hunt. It's a fun, inexpensive way to explore the World with kids, and you get a prize at the end!
Jacqueline, for more even more ideas to make your nephew's first visit to Walt Disney World extra special, check out
Disney's planning guide for parents of young children. You'll find tons of attractions and activities that are perfect for younglings!
I'm so excited for your big adventure, Jacqueline! I hope this helps you plan lots of fun experiences with your nephew. Have fun, and please come see us again if you have any more questions!
Keep Disney Dreaming,
Kathy K.
