I’m bringing my almost 4 month old to Disney in a couple weeks. Do we need a forward facing carrier for rides? Or can she face me in her carrier?

    Hi Cristi!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for bringing this great Disneyland Resort planning question to us hEAR!

I always loved having my Mouseketeer in a carrier, both for peace of mind but also to give my arms a break! Babies of any age and size are welcome on all "Any Height Attractions," and the majority of the time front-worn carriers that face either direction are allowed. While there isn't a list of which attractions allow which style carrier, I can offer some guidelines, and at the very least you can wear your little in line and then take them out of the carrier once you board your attraction vehicle.

You don't need to worry about any shows, character meet & greets, or ride vehicles that feature bench-style rows, like "it's a small world", Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room, Turtle Talk with Crush, and many, many more. Babes can be forward facing, outward facing, sitting in your lap without a carrier, even sleeping sideways in a sling!

There are a few attractions with soft lap belts that should also be okay to wear a teeny tiny baby facing you, like Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind and Dumbo the Flying Elephant. And there are a few attractions where the safety closure stops about a foot away from your person, like Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and Haunted Mansion that should also allow you to baby wear in any direction.

Some attractions have metal bars that you pull down until they rest either on or an inch above your lap or stomach. The attractions where the bars hit your lap (like where your legs meet your tummy) should be fine to baby wear facing you as long as the baby's bump is above the lap bar once set, almost resting on it. I'm thinking specifically of Toy Story Midway Mania and Alice in Wonderland. (If you click the links of the attraction names, you should see a picture of the attraction vehicles and how the lap bars rest on adult riders.)

There are a few attractions where the safety bar is, I think, quite tall and comes up pretty high on torso, like 'Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!" and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Definitely ask Cast Members standing at the queue entrance of these what your family is to do once seated. But again, if anything you'll absolutely be able to utilize the carrier while in these lines.

I hope this helped to plan out your upcoming Disney Days, Cristi, and We'll See You Real Soon!

    ~Kristen
